The Office of the City Secretary maintains records of birth, death and fetal deaths that occur in the City limits of Brownsville, Texas.

Office hours for Vital Records: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm  

If you were born outside the City limits of Brownsville you must obtain your long form birth certificate (Certified Copy) from the Cameron County Office.

BORN IN TEXAS AFTER 1925, BUT NOT IN BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS


The Office of the City Secretary has access to Abstract size birth certificate through the Texas Vital Statistics Remote Access Computer. 

BIRTH AND DEATH CERTIFICATE FEES
Birth Certificate(s)                       $24.00  Fee per certificate 
Death Certificate
(1st copy)
$21.00  Fee for one death certificate
Additional Death Certificate                                               $4.00 If applicant purchases more than one copy of a death certificate in a single transaction, a fee of $4.00 is charged for each additional record.
Record Search Fee $10.00 Fee charged for each search for a birth/death certificate that is either not found or not purchased
